In 2001, Gary and Peggy Ifft lived in Bloomington, IL. They had normal jobs, a normal home, a normal life. Then God called them out of the normal and into His mission.
YOU’VE SEEN THE FILM,
HERE ARE SOME NEXT STEPS
Those who put their hope and trust in Christ are all called to one life-changing task: Follow Him. Following Jesus will look different for everyone, but will most certainly involve sacrifice of some kind. Read Matthew 19:16-30 and consider Jesus’ interaction with the rich, young man and ask yourself if there is anything that you are unwilling to give up to follow Christ.
Following Christ is no easy task, but the great news is that, just like in Gary and Peggy’s story, He has promised to be with us to the very end of the age. Ask the Lord to reveal areas in your life that you haven’t submitted to Him and ask God to give you the boldness to step out in faith and go where He is calling you to go, whether it’s across the street or across the globe.
SHAREProudly proclaim the magnificent love and grace of Jesus Christ by sharing this film with your friends, family, and coworkers online, in your living room, or at church.

GARY & PEGGY IFFT
In January 2001, Gary and Peggy Ifft answered God’s call to serve Him overseas as missionaries in Ethiopia. After 2 ½ years working with Wycliffe Bible Translators in Addis Ababa, Gary and Peggy pursued their desire to work even more hands-on with the people by serving with Project Mercy in the Ethiopian countryside. A few years later, God called them to the rural community of Ziway. It was there that Gary and Peggy established Misgana Ministries where they continue to faithfully serve today.
Misgana Ministries follows God’s call to minister to the people of Ethiopia in the form of education, caring for vulnerable children, school meal programs, evangelism, micro-loans, and medical care. The ministry provides a healthy feeding program for students to prevent malnutrition, plants seeds of the Gospel in students hearts at their Ziway and Adami Tulu schools, supports evangelism efforts in local churches, aids individuals with special needs, and works towards sustainable business ventures with people in need.
THOUGHTS FROM THE FIELD
GARY & PEGGY IFFT
We met Gary and Peggy Ifft during a trip to Ziway, Ethiopia. It didn’t take long to see the amazing work that the Lord was doing through them during our three day stay. There are many struggles in the country of Ethiopia, but what we saw within the gates of the schools were smiles, laughter, and authentic joy. What once was a desolate landscape, there are now classrooms filled with bright-eyed children learning and, most importantly, hearing the Word of God. This is truly something only a Living God can do and it all started with a small act of obedience. Amazing!

GOD IS MOVING ALL OVER THE GLOBE, HERE IS WHY WE CHOSE THIS STORY:
Gary & Peggy is a story about God’s faithfulness and provision when believers are empowered by the Holy Spirit to follow Christ out of their comfort zone and into His mission. It’s about His power and His grace and, we believe, it is an act of praise to make this story known.
This story reveals how God faithfully pours out His immense power when His followers are obedient to His Word. It reveals that when we follow Christ on mission, He is faithful to sustain us and bear fruit as He sees fit. We believe this story is an encouragement to follow our Savior on mission to reach the nations.
PROCLAIM THE GOSPEL
The Gospel transforms lives. We see this in the lives of Gary and Peggy Ifft. Without the transformative work of the Holy Spirit and the power of the Gospel story, Gary and Peggy would have never have left everything they knew to serve the people of Ethiopia. This story reveals the transformative work that only the Gospel can produce in a person’s life.
